Description: specimen collected by the late Heward (Pete) Peters (prospector/ MUN geology professor) in 1961. Labradorescence: direction(s): 1, tri colour: light blue, yellow-green and minor amount of dark blue. Distinctive Northern Labrador source characteristics: small white quartz areas with intermittent black hornblende mixed into (relatively) non-grey labradorite showing strong labradorescence. Also subtle aurora lattice (aventurescence) present. Polished one face askew to twinning/layers (sealed at 280 grit, polished to 50,000 grit) by D L Hayashida at King's Point, NL, Canada.
