Made by King's Point Pottery Shop. Our cod jigger ornament was modeled from an original antique metal mold. Our mixed media decorative cod jigger is handmade from lightweight clay, pigment, fibre, metal, and resin.
The original (functional) cod jigger was a piece of lead poured into the form of a small caplin like fish, with two hooks (typically) fixed into it's moth and turned outwards in opposite directions. It was made fast to a line, which was thrown over into the sea. By jerking it up and down the hooks frequently fastened into the cod or other ground fish.
Cod jigger ornament measures approximately 6.5" from curve of wire to tail of fish.
