One side of each coin/earring features the provincial flower, the pitcher plant. This plant was selected as the official plant of Newfoundland by Queen Victoria over 100 years ago, and was officially adopted by the cabinet as the provincial flower in 1954.
The other side of each coin/earring features King George the sixth.
